Project Summary
Solution
Nor-Cal is a high-tech medical imaging company serving hospitals and clinics throughout the United States. When the company undertook construction of its new 150,000 square foot office campus in Fremont, California, the stakes were high for selecting the right roofing system, one that would protect the millions of dollars worth of sensitive electronic equipment, precision medical imaging infrastructure, and complex wiring systems. The general contractor and architect worked closely with the Highland team during the specification process, and the selection was driven by the system's unique combination of mission-critical waterproofing performance, long-term durability, and best-in-class sustainability credentials: the RainShield® system, a lightweight, highly reflective, seamless single-ply roofing system.
Results
All roof penetrations, equipment tie-ins, and building details were carefully integrated into the seamless system to ensure complete protection of the facility and its contents. Supporting Nor-Cal's sustainability goals, the RainShield® system is a LEED-qualified Cool Roof system, reflecting the sun's radiant heat and reducing the building's cooling load. The Nor-Cal campus achieved LEED certification and received a nomination for the prestigious AIA Green Building Award — recognition that validated the project team's commitment to sustainability at every level of the design and construction process, including the roofing system. The client is completely satisfied with the performance of the RainShield® Roofing System.
